Beach Bonfire…Negril Style!

Something about sitting on the beach
Gazing at the flames as they flicker and lick at the night air,
Gives me a sense of total peace.
While the sound of the waves soothes the noise in my head to nothingness.
The night air is filled with the smell of fire and salt
Willingly I succumb to the mesmerizing fire,
Then the connection is made between past and present.
But only when I am at one with all,
One with the flames,
Then I am privileged to watch my African ancestors dance around the fire.
Their ghostly figures casting shadows on the sand…
As I fade away in the arms of contentment.
